Eruptive Vellus Hair Cysts

چکیده
Eruptive vellus hair cysts were first reported by Esterly, Fretzin and Pinkus in 1977. They described two children who developed asymptomatic papular eruptions over the chest and mentioned two other cases, also children, who presented after submission of the original manuscript. Histology revealed a mid-dermal cyst lined by squamous epithelium containing keratinous material and vellus hairs. Lee, Kim and Kang (1984) have recently reported 11 cases from Korea and have reviewed the literature. Typically multiple flesh-coloured, red or dark brown papules erupt on presternal skin, although other sites may be affected. The condition occurs in both sexes but appears to be confined to children and young adults. An autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance has been recorded in two kindreds (Piepkorn, Clark and Lombardi, 1981; Stiefler and Bergfeld, 1980). Burns and Calnan (1981) described a case in a Negro but there have been no reports of this condition in the Chinese.

Eruptive vellus hair cyst: Report of two familial cases with facial lesions
Eruptive vellus hair cysts are disorders that present as cystic papules usually on the chest and extremities. Facial involvement is very rare in this disorder and few reports of facial eruptive vellus hair cysts have been presented till now.We present two cases of eruptive vellus hair cysts in a mother and her daughter with facial distribution.
متن کاملCo-occurrence of steatocystoma multiplex, eruptive vellus hair cysts, and trichofolliculomas.
An association between steatocystoma multiplex (SCM) and eruptive vellus hair cysts (EVHCs) has been recognized. Steatocystoma multiplex and EVHC have similar clinical features but distinctive histologic features. Rare cases of co-occurrence of these conditions have been known to occur on the trunk and the forehead. We report a rare case of the simultaneous occurrence of SCM, EVHC, and trichofo...
متن کاملA case of eruptive vellus hair cysts that developed on the labium major.
Eruptive vellus hair cysts are asymptomatic, flesh-colored-to-bluish, 1-to-4 mm-sized papules that are usually located on the chest and extremities of children and young adults. Histologically, small cysts are observed in the mid-dermis and these cysts contain multiple hair shafts and keratinous materials. We report here on a case of eruptive vellus hair cysts that developed on a rare site, the...
متن کاملA Tale of Two Cysts: Steatocystoma Multiplex and Eruptive Vellus Hair Cysts—Two Case Reports and a Review of the Literature
Background. Steatocystoma multiplex (SM) and eruptive vellus hair cysts (EVHC) are uncommon benign tumors of the pilosebaceous unit. Both SM and EVHC are characterized by smooth, asymptomatic papules or nodules, most commonly presenting on the chest, limbs, and abdomen. Most cases of SM and EVHC are sporadic, although less common autosomal dominant inherited forms have been reported. Main Obser...
متن کاملA Case of Multiple Pilosebaceous Cysts
Multiple pilosebaceous cysts include the entities of steatocystoma multiplex and eruptive vellus hair cysts (EVHCs). Multiple pilosebaceous cysts are proposed to be one entity originating in the pilosebaceous duct, since steatocystoma multiplex and EVHCs are frequently present concomitantly and are caused by a cystic change in the same pilosebaceous duct. Here, we describe a patient with yellow...
